Birthdays
Sometimes suck. It’s the dirty truth, that not all birthdays are good ones. Some people end up crying, others end up angry. While there are good days and bad ones, there are always those days where you wish things had turned out better.
This is one of those days.
Originally, today would have been great. I would have woken up with a smile on my face, bounded up the stairs in whatever state of dress I went to bed in, and cheerfully sang and shouted with reckless abandon the wonderful anthem that we all know by heart. But that didn’t happen.
My mother slams the door open. I go upstairs groggily. I am grumpy. I grab some orange juice and spill it on myself. I give everyone a “piss off or I’ll cut you” look.
And the day proceeded from there. My mom was moody, my sister didn’t like her gifts, and everyone ended up with hurt feelings. hooray for birthdays.
But, moving forward, I found something that some of you might consider humorous.
